Usually icons are clickable and range from 16x16 up to 128x128 pixels.
Joint Photographic Experts Group file (Jpeg)
JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) is a commonly used standard method of photographic images compression.
JPEG specifies both the codec, which defines how an image is compressed into a stream of bytes and decompressed back into an image, and the file format used to contain this stream.
The most common file extension for this format is .jpg, although .jpeg, .jfif, .jpe and .jif are used as well.
Many of the options in the JPEG standard are not commonly used and most image software creating a JPEG file uses the simpler JFIF format, which specifies the encoding method.
JPEG is at its best on photographs and paintings with smooth variations of tone and color. In these cases it usually performs much better than purely lossless methods while still giving a good looking image. JPEG usually produces much better results for such images than GIF, which can be lossless for images containing 256 or fewer unique colors but requires severe quantization for full-color images.
