About Interchange File Format
IFF (Interchange File Format) is a generic file format for easy data transfer between software products of different companies.
Each IFF file consists of chunks. Every type of chunk normally has different internal structure: numerical data, text, or raw data. An IFF file can be mechanically converted to an XML equivalent. However, XML has some additional features such as descriptive data, metadata and navigational features which can't be trivially mapped back to IFF. |
