About PCX file
PCX is an image file format by the ZSoft Corporation. PCX was the native file format for PC Paintbrush and became a widely accepted DOS imaging standard.
PCX is a device-independent raster image format. Its file header stores information about the display hardware separately from the actual image information. This allows properly transfer and display the image on computer systems with different hardware. PCX image data is compressed using a simple algorithm collapsing series of 3 or more consecutive bytes with identical colors into a two-byte pair (run length encoding, RLE). |
