About RAW image file
RAW image files contain minimally processed data from the image sensor of a digital camera or image scanner.
There is no single RAW format: different manufacturers use their own proprietary formats - .crw and .cr2 (Canon), .mrw (Minolta), .raf (Fuji), .nef (Nikon), .orf (Olympus), .pef (Pentax), .srf (Sony), .x3f (Sigma). Almost all digital cameras can process the image from the sensor into a JPEG file using settings for white balance, contrast, color saturation, and sharpness which are either entered by the photographer or selected automatically. |
