dBase was the first popular database management system for microcomputers. A header section for describing the data structure of the file was used in dBase.
dBase's file format DBF is widely used in many other applications which need a simple format to store structured data. Other file formats of dBase are .dbt (for memo fields) and .ndx (for indexes). |
