About Short Message Service
SMS (Short Message Service) is a communications protocol for interchanging of short text messages between mobile phone devices. SMS was originally defined as a part of the GSM series of standards to send messages from and to GSM handsets (mobile-to-mobile). Now the SMS standard supports other ways to broadcast messages.
