About MPEG-2
MPEG-2 is a standard for the generic coding of moving pictures and associated audio information developed by Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG). It is widely used to specify the format of the digital television signals that are broadcast by terrestrial, cable, and direct broadcast satellite TV systems. It also specifies the format of movies and other programs distributed on DVD disks. MPEG2 allows adding text and other data to the video and audio data streams.
With some enhancements, MPEG-2 Video and Systems are used in most HDTV transmission systems. |
