About Waveform audio format
WAV (Waveform audio format) is an audio file format standard for storing audio on PC. It is a variant of the RIFF bitstream format method for storing data in chunks. WAV is the main format used on Windows systems for raw audio.
Though a WAV file can hold compressed audio, most commonly WAV format contains uncompressed audio in the PCM format. Professional users and audio experts may use the WAV format for maximum audio quality. The WAV format is limited in files size (less than 4 Gb) due to its use of a 32 bit unsigned integer to record the file size header. |
